In the same environment all the time? Dull, white walls? Always in front of the computer and not doing anything physical or manual for a long time? Bring in some colour!
Dark colours are especially good in the bedroom. You often hear the cliché that this makes the rooms look smaller and that the darkness has a negative effect on the mood. This is not the case. If the long wall is painted and not the short one and a dark colour with a warm tone is chosen, the room looks cosy and creates a sense of security. With great pictures and posters an exciting play of colours is created. The contrast to the floor, doors and furniture becomes greater and gives the room more individuality.

In our shared flat we painted the living room in a forest green. It looks very fresh, lively and relaxed. Not too dark, so that the plants keep their effect and do not disappear optically. The natural green also goes wonderfully well with the parquet flooring and the wooden furniture.

Black chalk walls are also always great. In addition there is special paint in every painter’s shop or DIY store. The paint can be painted like normal paint and it can also be repainted. (I’m talking from experience: Just recently I left a flat where we painted these walls white again).
The wall can be painted with normal chalk and wiped off with a damp rag. So there are no limits to creativity. Maybe an idea for the kitchen? You can write recipes or shopping lists on the wall.
Whatever it takes: Paint roller with hanger and extension, brush, something to cover the floor (old shower curtains are great for that!), tape, ladder and a bit of white paint in the colour of your walls (mostly RAL 9010). Unscrew the baseboards, cover the floor and tape the edges of the wall with tape.
Paint the edges of the painter’s tape white before painting. The white paint runs into the spaces between the tape and the wall and closes them. If you paint with the paint now, you will get a nice straight line as a finish.
Always apply the paint in the same direction. First paint the edges with the brush and then paint them with the roller from top to bottom and finely remove the paint. You may need a second coat. Let it dry for a short time and remove the adhesive tape and you are ready to paint.
