To mark the 20th anniversary of the Zurich Film Festival, Aroma Creative completely reimagined and designed the festival center on Sechseläutenplatz. From the first sketches to the final renderings, the concept illustrates the development of a modular wooden structure with a distinctive signature look: clear spatial dramaturgy, inviting terraces, and open sightlines create a place that brings stars and the public together on equal footing. The Green Carpet serves as the central axis, extending almost to the street — a statement for a festival that fosters genuine closeness.
The warm materiality of wood and golden façade accents emphasize the ZFF’s identity. The center houses a bar, ticketing and accreditation desks, a merchandise boutique, various lounge areas, and curated brand spaces for sponsors. A large terrace offers a prime view of the Green Carpet, while an accessible ramp leads up to the viewing platform.
Sustainability was a key focus in the realization: the pavilion is made almost entirely of Swiss wood and assembled using a modular construction system. Standardized modules and reusable components allow flexible use and minimize resource consumption. This makes the festival’s ecological commitment visible and turns the center into a model for temporary architecture.
Aroma Creative was responsible for the overarching design concept and the content development of the festival center. The spatial dramaturgy and design were developed in close collaboration with VierD.
